Bathroom renovations don't have to cost a fortune. There are plenty of home remodeling ideas that are inexpensive but can really change the look of a bathroom.

Some people assume that bathroom renovations have to cost thousands of dollars but in reality there are plenty of home remodeling projects for the bathroom that won’t cost homeowners anywhere near thousands of dollars. Although these renovations may not be complete changes of the room, they definitely will change the look and style of the space.

Install a New Shower or Bathtub Liner

When most homeowners think of bathroom renovations changing the look of the bathtub or shower area often is one of the most popular things they want to accomplish. Instead of completely re-tiling the area or getting a new bathtub or shower put in, simply install a new shower or bathtub liner over the existing one. This remodeling option is much cheaper and can be just as aesthetically pleasing as refinishing the shower or tub.

Replace the Bathroom CabinetsAnother idea for cheap bathroom renovations is replacing the old cabinets in the room with newer, updated ones. New bathroom cabinets can completely change the look of a room especially if they are a different color and placed in a different layout. Some homeowners may be able to find cheap bathroom cabinets and can finish them and install them themselves, which can also save quite a bit of money on the project.

Paint or Refinish the Bathroom Cabinets

If new bathroom cabinets are not in the renovation budget then the existing ones can always be painted, stained or refinished to give the room a new look. It doesn’t take a lot of money to paint or refinish cabinets but it may take some time if a homeowner is going to do it himself. Along with a new color, people may also want to consider new hardware for the cabinets as well.

Replace the Bathroom Tiles

Another rather cheap bathroom renovation is replacing the tile in the room. Homeowners can replace the flooring tile, the wall tiles, or the bath tiles. If someone has more money for his bathroom renovations then all of the tile in the room can be replaced. The tile work can be done by a contractor or the homeowners if they want to save money. Buying bathroom tiles from an outlet or discount can save money on the home remodeling project.

Change the Layout of the Room

Although it may sound expensive to change the layout of a bathroom, it may not cost as much as most people think. There are certain fixtures in the room that may not be able to be changed without major construction such as the bathtub, but other things like the cabinets, toilet, sink, and any storage space can be moved.

When moving things like the toilet and sink to another area it is a smart decision for the homeowner to call a contractor to do the work. With other items in the bathroom such as cabinets and storage items a homeowner may be able to move them with no problems.

Change the Décor of the Space

Bathroom renovations can be as easy as changing the décor of the area. Painting is the easiest and cheapest way to change the look of a room. Other décor changes may include a new shower curtain, towels, light fixtures, sink, toilet, artwork, and bathroom accessories like soap dishes and baskets. The way that a homeowner decorates the bathroom can make the space appear larger or smaller, brighter or darker, and old-fashioned or modern. If a complete bathroom renovation is not possible, changing the décor of the room is the next best option.

These are just some of the cheap bathroom renovations that homeowners can do to their home. There are other home remodeling ideas that people can come up with depending on the size, shape, and functionality of their own individual rooms.
